Things to do before your New Student Conference

bullet Confirm your NSC Date on http://applicant.tamu.eduStudents arriving at the wrong conference will be asked to return on their scheduled conference date. 
 
bullet Make reservations for lodging during your NSC.  [click here]
 
bullet Buy your NSC Parking Permit.  [click here]
 
bullet Print out a sample New Student Conference Schedule [click here]
 
bullet Continually check your official Texas A&M email account for updates.  [click here]

What to bring to your New Student Conference

bullet NSC confirmation letter and NSC Handbook.  If you do not have your confirmation letter, print out a copy of the http://applicant.tamu.edu screen that has your confirmed date under the last step.
bullet NSC parking permit print-out placed on dashboard (if applicable)
bullet Transcripts for all college work previously completed that have not already been sent to Texas A&M
bullet Texas Success Initiative test results or scores showing exemption if they have not already been sent to TAMU
bullet Picture identification for verification at testing and to have your Texas A&M ID Card made. (Driver’s license, passport, etc.)
bullet Casual clothes.  It is very hot in the summer months and you will be outside at times.
bullet Sweater or sweatshirt - though it is hot outside, conference rooms tend to be cold.
bullet Comfortable walking shoes. Please note that you will be walking frequently around a LARGE campus for different meetings.
bullet Money for meals and extras. Please note that some services do not take credit cards.
bullet Umbrella or raincoat (as needed)
bullet Canvas bag or backpack for gathering and carrying materials from resource tables and meetings
bullet Laptop computer (optional).  You will be receiving your academic catalog on CD.  You will have access to Texas A&M computers in the lab, however, some find it convenient to bring their own laptop to view the CD. 
bullet A refillable water bottle.

When you leave your New Student Conference you will have had the opportunity to:

bullet Get your student ID card
bullet Set up your official Texas A&M computer resources
bullet Pick up your complimentary course catalog CD
bullet Register for your academic classes
bullet Purchase and pick up your football or all sports pass
bullet Purchase a meal plan from Texas A&M Dining Services
bullet Purchase Aggie Bucks
bullet Reserve a parking pass if applicable
bullet Reserve class textbooks at the Texas A&M Bookstore
bullet Attend all conference programs in order to complete the above items.
bullet Meet other new and current Aggies and their families.

After Your New Student Conference

We recognize that your transition to Texas A&M does not end at New Student Conferences.  Now that you have registered for your classes, reserved your textbooks, received your ID card, know where you are going to live and have purchased you meal plan, it is easier to focus on learning about your new Aggieland community and your place in that community.

bullet Consider attending one or more of the supplemental orientation programs offered at Texas A&M

  • ExCEL -- Excellence uniting Culture, Education and Leadership for student success in the Fall
  • Fish Camp -- for Freshmen entering in the Fall 
  • I-Camp -- for international students entering in the Fall
  • T-Camp -- for Transfers entering in the Fall
  • Corps of Cadets Freshman Orientation Week (FOW) -- for students joining the Corps in the Fall
bullet Make plans to participate in Gig 'Em Week, Aggieland's Week of Welcome in the Fall!
bullet Update your local address and telephone number with the Registrar's Office at Texas A&M at http://myrecord.tamu.edu
bullet Determine when your tuition and fee payment is due
bullet Finalize your plans for relocation to Bryan/College Station and Texas A&M University
